The state has been acutely aware--for at least the last 20 years that I spent in the industry--that the bulk of Illinois' LTC providers have been in the red on IDPA for years. Per-diem rates have consistently fallen further away from reality. Nonetheless, facilities provide comprehensive skilled care services, therapy to maintain and improve clinical outcomes. They undertake and perform what they are supposed to do. They also deal with the most complicated regulatory mess on both federal and state levels. They wait and wait for the money owed them at no interest. Because of continued deterioration within the state's Medicaid budget, coupled with providers' crumbling bottom lines, I shudder to think how many nursing homes in this state will be closed in 25 years. I'll be 80 then. It affects everyone, rich or poor. It forced me at age 50 to buy into LTC insurance because of its continued escalating cost. The needy dont have such luxury of 'some coverage.' The current administration has it all wrong. Medicaid payments should be INCREASING for every year the state has cut them. The time has been well past-due for the state to cut its own budgets relative to all the strong salaries, benefits, perks, etc...awarded to those who serve this great State of Illinois.

Please do not cut nursing home funding. We are taking care the people that help form this great country. Our daily cost of caring for these people is higher than our present daily rate. Please do not make this cut.

This cut would drastically effect our geriatric population in the long term care facilities R/T its effect on the facilities themselves. Our elderly DESERVE the right for proper care and the facilities the RESPECT for caring for them. Help us take care of our aged - do not make these cuts!
