Medicaid already doesn't pay enough!! Cuts would be detrimental. My mother was on Medicaid and in a homE. It was almost impossible to find local placement for her and the care was lacking.

Put yourself in the shoes of our patients who need proper care and equipment to treat them everyday. When you become elderly, would you want the budget of the facility that takes care of you and houses you to be cut? Let's take care of our elderly because god willing, we will all get old.

We have not have a rate increase in DD since 1996. We already have a $17,500 gap per client/year (a total of over $2M) between what the state reimbursement and what it costs to bring care. 90% of EVERY dollar we receive goes directly to client care. It seem impossible to believe that a cut of any kind, let alone 12%, is the way to balance the state budget. You will definitely see organizations that have been on edge for years hit the tipping point and then what is the state going to do? They are having a hard enough time trying to close the SODCs.

I find it hard to believe that there is not somewhere else that these uts can come from.......Our Seniors gave us our futures and we should be honored to help them have comfortable and safe surrondings till the end. In the instance of Supportive living it is certainly much more cost effective to keep them at the level of service provided there than at a nursing home at triple the cost.
