How can a service which thoroughly fulfills the curriculum for excellence four capacities of successful learners, confident individuals, responsible citizens and effective contributors be cut without alternative provision? Terribly disappointing and short sighted decision which I sincerely hope will be reconsidered.

Children need to learn these types of outdoor skills it would be a crying shame for Dumfries and Galloway to close the Carlingwark Outdoor Eduction Centre.

Outdoor Education is a must for improving our children’s team building and resilience skills. Not to mention providing experiences for some that will never be given the chance to try these activities.

How can we lose this valuable resource at a time when outdoor and physical activity for children should be a priority? My two girls loved their residential trips there. Heart breaking.

This is a shocking proposal, this facility has hardly been open for while, why on earth launch this facility, it only to announce its closure?

Stronord Outdoor Centre near Newton Stewart was a great facility, no investment and last I heard it was to be sold off. Unacceptable if Carlingwark goes the same way.

This is a time when young people need more opportunities to get outdoors, not fewer.

Outdoor learning is so important for our children. It always seems to be children's education being affected by cutbacks!

All of my children have learned to kayak at the Carlingwark Outdoor Centre. This fantastic facility should be able to run at a profit. Please don’t shut it down and leave it to become an eyesore like the old social work offices. The town and the local school children deserve better!
