We send our P5 pupils to Carlingwark every year as their first experience of a residential trip. They benefit greatly from this and we don't have to pay prohibitive bus fares as it is here in D&G. It would be a huge miss for our children of the future were it to close. Please think again!!

Carlingwark is one of, if not, the best experience for our pupils. They are faded with activities and challenges that they might not get independently otherwise. It is what my P5’s look forward to from the year and it’s whst they talk about for years afterwards. The staff provide an invaluable service and make a huge impact on the children. Absolutely devastated to hear it is being closed, this is a huge mistake.

Real shame I can remember my two kids that are now 23 and 26 going and they loved it.iv a younger one that's 8 and I would love her to b able to go once her time comes at school.

I had my class here 3 weeks ago & it was an excellent learning experience for them. They loved it! It lets children flourish who aren’t necessarily academic.

It was a place I went at primary school and loved every minute of it closing it will take all experience away from kids that normally wouldn't get to go hear for good sake keep it open x

My son loved his trip here, shocking that they're thinking of shutting it down! No wonder kids end up getting in trouble when we as adults keep taking things away from them!

As a parent who’s children (now adults) attended Carlingwark Education Centre I can testify that it greatly encouraged the development of their confidence, resilience and perseverance and also provided them with a lifelong appreciation of the outdoors. These outcomes for children are promoted by the Scottish Government and I believe the centre is still delivering high quality experiences. How can Dumfries and Galloway Council be so shortsighted in depriving children of this experience.
