Apart from the fact this centre has great sentimental importance to me (my Grandparents used to manage Carlingwark Park), both my kids had amazing school trips in P6 to this activity Centre and learned lots of activities they would not have even had the chance of trying usually. Please reconsider?????

Many of today's youth are too busy burying their heads in electronics. Carlingwark provides fantastic learning to get outdoors and achieve new skills and experiences.

This activity centre really helped my 2 girls with their confidence to try something new. Would be a huge loss for Dumfries and Galloway

Don’t do it!!! This is the only chance some of these school children have of experiencing time away from home. Invaluable.

Can't you see how beneficial this is and what a great loss this would be.

So many children have gained confidence and new skills taking part in the many different activities held there. This is disastrous that others are unable to experience such a wonderful pace.

There are too few resources where children and young people can participate in adventurous activity today resulting in them seeking their risk taking in other more dangerous or anti-social ways. These sorts of centres are necessary to give children who's parents arn't perhaps in a position to afford such activities the opportunity to participate. We complain about the rising rates of obesity and childhood inactivity and yet threaten the very places where such activity can be encouraged. Having spent time at Carlingwark myself as a student in D&G it is a fantastic resource and shouldn't be lost. Outdoor activity provision is essential to stimulate the adventurous spirits, team work skills and well being of young people for the future. I urge you to keep Carlingwark OEC open.

Both my children benefited from residential trips to Carlingwark. It's so unfair that youngsters from across our region will no longer have the opportunity to attend an affordable, local residential trip led by the fantastic team at Carlingwark.
