Both of my children attending Carlingwark at the end of Primary School, it was an amazing experience for them, and definitely encouraged them into further outdoor persuits thereafter. These experiences as children are priceless and invaluable and in a lot of cases it’s the first time children have spent time away from parents or family, it’s so important for their life skills.

Carlingwark offers a unique opportunity for children to try sports and activities which they would never have done otherwise. It is a very important developmental stage for them because it is often the first time they have stayed away from their family and friends.

This is a vital facility for young people in our area. They do fantastic work with young disabled people, enabling them to take part in adventure sports opportunities in an inclusive and positive way. The staff experience is second to none!

Such a shame this place has to close its doors to the private sector. My son who is disabled has been fortunate enough to do a few activities here through the parent inclusion network. All the children loved it and staff where amazing with them...

When children's mental health is seen as paramount, why are we closing our outdoor education centre. Independence, outdoors, teambuilding, new experiences are all key to our children's well being. we should be investing more not closing Carlingwark.

The proposal to close this resource is just wrong on so many levels! There are not enough resources in this area for young people as it is. The proposal to close it MUST be reconsidered.

In a week where the knife crime epidemic has been linked to a reduction in youth services and clubs, this shows typical short sightedness by Dumfries and Galloway Council.

This is an invaluable place for the kids during school years and our kids look forward to going this trip in their later years at primary school .

This is a much loved experience which should remain open for the benefit of the schools in the region.

We need the children to enjoy the great outdoors to stay healthy and get them of their tablets and phones.
