Don’t close Carlingwark Outdoor Education Centre.

I was fortunate enough to attend an outdoor education centre in Wales in my teenage years as I lived in a city environment in the Midlands at that time; the activities we undertook there gave me confidence in myself and challenged me to try new things and that ethos has stayed with me throughout my adult life. By closing this centre children will not be given these opportunities and their development potential will be unchallenged which I think will be a huge loss to them individually and to society as a whole. Please keep the centre open, these places really do make a difference to peoples lives.

We have a wonderful facility on our door step - let’s use it & not have to bus children/adults to other places. Stop centralising everything! It’s a false economy!

What a waste of an excellent facility for our young people. Stop wasting money on free music venues, if people want to see these so called pop artists let them pay for it,instead of cutting back on necessary educational venues.

We need young people to be educated about the natural world - how else will they ever value it, enjoy it and be ready to protect it for future generations.

My son came home today from an overnight stay at carlingwark and despite being too cold to get out on the Loch he had a great time and learned a lot from the experience! It's such a shame it all comes down to money especially when our group, gatehouse and twynholm primary, paid £55 a head obviously a that included travel etc but why can't it be made more profitable rather than closure? Life lessons they learn are priceless!

This facility is required. The multi-million pound Whitesand's earth banking is not. Keep Carlingwark open!

It is a disgrace to close this facility. My grandchildren have enjoyed their time there. The council need to look closer to home to make cuts.

Don't be shortsighted - this impacts kids, staff, businesses in the town - and while the place has clearly not been maintained properly, it is a valuable resource. Instead of shutting, look to see how it could be a draw for tourists and locals during holiday periods- bunkhouse accomodation, canoeing courses... boat hire etc.

Much needed facility

This is a fantastic provider of outdoor education, that has meant so much to my kids over the years, from school trips to birthday parties. Absolutely shocked the Council think this is an appropriate closure, when they should be encouraging outdoor activities.

Bring in a tourist tax D & G (Scotland's Riviera), ring fence the cash and keep the kids centres open.

All these cuts to our local area in education & help for children are so damaging to our kids & their futures. This is not right!

Please think again before you rob our children in this area of a much needed facility
