If you ban roosters then you will need to ban dogs for the same actions. Dogs bark late night and early morning and disturb people more than roosters.

Don't ban the roosters. Enforce current noise ordinance law, if needed.

The MBABYCC worked tirelessly with the City of Mobile to develop best practices for poultry keeping, which includes allowing roosters (subject to the noise ordinance) within the city limits. Now, because of multiple complaints from just three neighbors about one rooster in the Oakleigh Garden District (who was removed by the owner after the first complaint), the City Council has recommended a total ban on roosters in the city limits. This is an unreasonable stance. Roosters control predators and protect their flocks. If proper channels are followed first (i.e. complaint to Animal Control rather than to City Council), the problem can be resolved without a city-wide ban on roosters.

It's about the noise and not about the roosters. Just like barking dogs and loud music being played. Enforce the noise ordinance law and not deprive owning roosters.

Mobile, you just invested time and effort to establish an ordinance based on best practices. Why punish all responsible chicken owners based on isolated complaints. Have the complaints been investigated?
