I can't believe people think events like this are a good idea.

It is so cruel to treat donkeys in this way. They are peaceful gentle creatures. Making them take part in this basketball show will cause them fear and stress. It is totally unacceptable to let this go ahead. Please put a stop to it now and forever. Donkeys are trusting souls who deserve better than this. I am shocked that somebody has even thought up this awful game.

Guys, let's just think for a minute. This sport has been going on since the 30s during the Great Depression. If it was truly abusive to animals it would have been outlawed years ago. Donkey Basketball is about having fun watching some guys playing (rather comically) on donkeys. This is about having a good time, not abusing donkeys.

This event is in poor taste and as a former student, I'm really disappointed in school administration for allowing this event to happen.

Just because the owners take care of the animals well outside of the events doesn't mean it's right to abuse the animal for a few hours. I don't think any one of the participants would intentionally hurt or abuse the animals, but that doesn't mean it's ok. This is not natural for these animals to be indoors in a gymnasium. It's wrong to think that if they are feed, cared for and you have taken all steps to prevent abuse by the participants that this event is ok. It's not natural for these animals. It's just like the circus, sea world, etc. We convince ourselves into thinking that it is okay - it's not. The sponsors of this event cannot hide behind the "old school" way of thought especially since the event is involving students. You have a higher standard to live up to because you are directly and indirectly sending a message to young minds. Shame on you for not thinking beyond the money. That's the message you are sending - money is more important than being kind.
Couldn't just have a bake sale?
Good for you, girls.
