Saturday and Sunday mornings with my unleashed black lab at Pritchard Park are moments to treasure. In years throwing sticks for him to swim after I have never see an incident. On Saturday and Sunday mornings Pritchard Park is used by sociable dogs and mostly sociable owners. It is a dog Heaven. Please consider that Joel Pritchard was the proud owner of a golden retriever who ran Pleasant Beach like he owned it. Joel's dog was named Pickle and the game of Pickle Ball was named after Joel's dog.

If you must limit dogs on the beach, create a schedule that allows dogs certain days and not others. Dog owners can read and will follow if they know that they might lose the privilege.

This is a precious and sacred place that my friends and I covet. I don't let my dog off leash in any other park on the island and I know that a lot of people uphold those same actions. Please for the rights of dogs to be able to live free for just a moment don't take this away. The pleasure that is felt because of this land and the opportunity sprung outweighs any negativity that might be present. In a place where there are beaches surrounding every foot of our island this one place should remain friendly to all creatures. Thank you.

Thanks to those that are supporting this. We need to be sure that our needs are considered as part of the Island Comunity. Participation is the only way to let people know that it is important to a lot more people than the City may be aware of.

Many dogs are born to swim! Some even have webbed feet. It just doesn't work when they are tethered. All dogs need exercise and have the need to run and play in an open area. It makes for a happy, less aggressive dog. Thank you for this petition.
