We are asking for one of the enclosed communal areas planned on the development to be turned into a gated dog play area (much like the children's play areas but without the playground kids activities). We think there are equally as many dogs as there are children on the island if not more!

As we all know Sugar House Island is advertised as a pet friendly neighbourhood yet there are no dog friendly areas where our fur friends can play safely. Our dogs are not allowed in any of the communal garden areas and do not have an enclosed space where they can run and play freely with one another. Furthermore, there are people on the island that are scared of/don't like dogs and they might feel safer knowing that off leash dogs would be secured in a gated area.

This suggestion will benefit the whole community. Both dog owners and those wanting to avoid encounters with dogs will reap the benefits. Dog owners that wish to let their dogs off leash to play with their neighbourhood friends can do so safely and securely and likewise, those who want to be kept away from dogs can do so and have less encounters with them.

It's a win win situation.
