There are a lot of things that would be great to have in life and a super nice pool is one of them, but I don't believe it is the job of government to make our fondest dreams come true. It would be different if we have the money, but we don't and it is not fiscally responsible.

Look the problem lies when an overwhelming population forces the minority to comply without consent. That is a Democracy, not a republic, and not what the founding fathers intended.
I think most of us can agree that beautification of our community with things like parks and fields, community pools, etc.are all great! Anything that increases property values in the County is great!
BUT when we get 51% of the people to vote for something then force the other 49% to go along with it, it's stealing from some to give to the others who want it! Even congress requires a 2/3 vote.

I think most of us can agree that beautification of our community with things like parks and fields, community pools, etc.are all great! Anything that increases property values in the County is great!
BUT when we get 51% of the people to vote for something then force the other 49% to go along with it, it's stealing from some to give to the others who want it! Even congress requires a 2/3 vote.
The aquatics center is a WANT, Not a NEED! There are plenty of people who are willing to donate to build a pool that they can enjoy.
Not too many people have sat in on county/school district meetings to hear that the district will have the greatest portion of the pool time. It has been discussed several times that the pool schedule will revolve around the "needs" of the kids in the district that "need" that time.
I personally don't want to pay for another pool, I already pay for one and will not use the county pool. I do not want to be Forced to pay for something that I will not use.
Voters need to know about all the other taxes that are being voted on right now besides the aquatics center, see how much they say they are now and then expect a change when it actually comes time to pay the bill (whether that is this year or the next, the numbers by Healthy Wasatch do not add up, they are vague at best).

Those who want the aquatic center, ball fields, soccer fields, pavilions, et al should get out and raise at least half the money privately before asking taxpayers to foot the bill as usual.

I would love to have a pool if it was privately owned and each person who wanted it, could pay a membership or entrance fee. I am opposed to having a pool that every citizen is forced to pay for, whether or not they will ever use it, whether or not they can afford the tax hikes. What happens if we suddenly have a serious need in a few years and need another tax hike-- something necessary and not just fun? We need to be wise with debt and not copy what the federal government does in destroying our integrity with so much debt.

There's a beautiful swimming pool in Kamas, just a few minutes away.
A pool here would only serve a limited number of residents. But, everyone will have to pay for it. I won't use it and I DON'T want to pay for it

I wonder if there could be a middle of the road answer. $25 to $30 million seems like an awful lot for an aquatic center. Why don't we scale it back? I would think a nice swimming facility could be built for something significantly less than that, which might be able to appease more people. If it's $25-30 million or nothing, then my vote is don't do it. It is definitely not a need - it is a luxury.

I do not want to pay for others pleasure! I vote to stop this insanity. If you want a pool, save your money and pool it together and build your pool and charge those that want to use it. Or use the pools in Kamas, Provo, and Park City. THIS IS NOT A NEED, and with everything going up all the time, stop this madness! We are not a recreation center. We need to further teach our children to work, to save for what they would like, and then once the money is saved, they can spend it on a pool/aquatic center. Please no Aquatic Center. The county is too big for most of the citizens to have any use of such a center. It is an ego project for Heber City and the cost will be pushed to every property owner.

Tax and spend, tax and spend, with no accountability. Pool tax rates will be based on property value - that is unfair and unjust. Tax everyone the same - EVERYONE. We will all supposedly use it the same amount, so have every property owner pay the same. I do NOT believe in funding projects that we have no funds for. Stop spending our money!
