President Obama, The disappointment and anger that was felt in doctors lounges across the country after your news conference on health care reform was unprecedented. Your mischaracterization of doctors as performing unnecessary surgeries on patients for monetary gain was hurtful and counterproductive for health care in our country. It suggested not only greed, but criminality. The overwhelming majority of doctors in our country practice with the highest of ethical standards. We put a tremendous amount of time and effort into each tough decision in taking care of our patients. After your slanderous comments, you then suggested that you have our support for the current reform bill. The fact that there is no medical liability reform being discussed with this effort, means you really have no intentions of real reform.
