It's getting silly now trying to book an appointment... worse if you have children. ..

Well done for getting this petition started. The situation is getting worse by the day and urgent action is required. Perhaps this petition will nudge local councillors and politicians in the right direction.

Some of the time the phone lines aren't even open/working if I ring at 8ish, and the phone booking system doesn't seem to work either.

We urgently need more doctors in Haverhill to support the community.

This situation is totally unacceptable, it runs the risk that someone will die due to the poor situation the surgery is in.

This system is ridiculous especially when you work

Used to be easy to get an appointment, not any more though. Went to a&e and was told I should have seen a gp (I wish I had thought of that before driving to addenbrokes!!!) Reopening the walk in centre would alleviate some of the problems. On a positive note, the doctors I have seen have been very good.

This service is diabolical, and a joke. We need more doctors to get a better service.

I whole heartily agree with this petition. You can never get an appointment, and the sit and wait is a joke too!!!

Something has to be done. They pay for a NHS and there isn't one to speak of. We are not some poor third world country - our health care used to be second to none. People need to be able to see a doctor when they are ill. It really is as simple as that.

Appointments system is appalling. When I needed an urgent appointment I was told to go to A and E.

I moved doctors as the situation is rediculous.

Simon, you can complain to GP practices if you think they are at fault, but Haverhill probably needs a new practice in new premises to take some of the excessive workload from these over-stretched practices. The CCG is a consortium of the existing local GP practices that commissions hospital and other services for their patients, so there is little point in complaining to them. Only NHS England can commission new GP services, so you probably need to direct this petition to them and ask them for more services. Good luck!

I've had to take a family over to Bury St Edmunds one evening as their daughter was ill and were told to get a taxi there which they couldn't afford!

Living in this town with an ongoing health problem makes me very nervous. What has happened to our surgeries? When we moved here 12 years ago you could get an appointment within 3 to 4 days if you wanted to see a specific doctor. If you were happy to see any available doctor it would sometimes be same day or next day.
