That is a beautiful area where I spent a lot of time and would love to invest in a cottage in the area. Rezoning and development would ruin everything that the area stands for and what the people that are there want. It's a wonderful place to spend the summer at the cottage and I would be very disappointed if someone uses the land for the wrong reasons.

Stop this nonsense before it is too late. This is NOT an area that deserves to be raped(zoned commercial) like so many other places. Lets do the right thing, not governed by money for a change, but governed by what is right.
Commercial zoning is NOT right !!!

I am opposed to the commercial application. My family has owned property on the lake before I was born. I have grown up on the lake and consider it as my second home. I can not imagine it without the peace and quiet it now gives us. The lake is not big enough to support this commercial application.

I am opposed to this application for commercial zoning. My wife and I have been enjoying Lake LaBrash for 20 years. The lake and rivers are a very eco system sensitive environment. Our concern is of the preservation of the rivers and the lake that are already at there compacitity.

As a family member who visits the lake often, I appreciate the nature and solitude that la brash lake and the deer river have to offer. I wish to keep it the family oriented community that it is and would like to avoid commercial zoning. If I wanted commercial zoning, I would have stayed in the city.

My family purchased property on Labrash and fell in love with it for its peace and tranquility. They have worked for many years towards their dream home in anticipation of a quiet retirement. I do not support the rezoning of this area which could negatively impact the hard work and enjoyment of many residents and visitors to this beautiful area.

My wife and I are “Deerly” touched and our heart goes out to everyone who has posted their comments here! They all resonate with the love, caring, respect and the awe we all experience when we get to immerse ourselves in the peace and quiet of living with nature in Labrash’s natural environment!
We own the property on the south shore of Lake Labrash from the Deer River west to crown land. We also have river frontage going from the lake all the way down to being once removed from the property which is the subject of this rezoning application. We were searching for a “a natural piece of paradise” for a long, time. In the 1980’s we owned a 22 acre cottage property on Whitestone Lake on Chur Lee Rd … but the lake was getting too busy. In 2002 we almost bought a 20 acre property on Lake Dubois, but it was a neighbour once removed from a family trailer camp. Then when our 33 acre property became available in 2003 we literally jumped for it. It borders crown land on one side, the Deer River on the other side, and crown land across the lake. It was serenely secluded, private and absolutely pristine.
Both my wife and I love wilderness seclusion. We love listening to the whispering pines, the gentle ash leaves dancing before a rain and just being surrounded by the sounds and peaceful vibes of nature. We are looking forward to retiring up here and are in the planning stages to build our “off-grid certified pine” retirement log home.
Both my wife and I are also Tree Huggers. So we have carefully studied and thought about where we’d like to build.
I do energy efficient and off-grid presentations for the South Lake Simcoe Conservation Authority. I lead guided Night Walks thru the bush. I’m on the microFIT program where we produce green solar electricity for the grid and, I have a portable solar trailer to demonstrate the power of the sun to unconvinced urbanites. So for the last 12 years we have cut very few trees.
However, planning to build does require a site to be c

We are absolutely opposed to commercialization of any property on Labrash Lake! The lake and its rivers are treasures that we all respect. Further we respect each others' privacy. Sam's renters have trespassed on neighbouring lots and have left garbage/bottles strewn about. I join my Labrash Lake and Deer River neighbours in opposing this development.

Firstly, this situation sounds as though there is misinformation or a misunderstanding between the Municipality and "Sam". Rezoning for the purpose of renting was dissolved by Council in 2014 and Annual Rental Permits were in force this past year. Application for Rental permits are applied for by the land owner and only approved when the owner has provided all requirements (approved septic, no outstanding building permits, proof of insurance, etc) and this permit once approved, is subject to retraction should there be any complaints or violations under the Municipality Bylaws. Written complaints in compliation should definitely make a impact on whether a land owner receives approval for a rental basis and further this should be monitored on annual basis in order for this Rental Permit process to be successful. I trust that Council and the staff of the Municipality do monitor and issue these permits according to these guidelines.
Owners that rent their properties to renters should also have pride and respect when choosing their clients and further have guidelines for the renters to follow during their stay. Consequence being that the rentals are asked to leave and will receive no future access. I trust that owners of rentals would have consideration and regards for not only the surrounding neighbours but also the serenity of our lakes and rivers.
Finally, rezoning a property to commercial not only impacts the property and surrounding properties, it is forever and can never go back to residential zoning. It is a Pandora's box that should be opened with extreme caution.
With consideration to the information provided I would be against this property being rezoned and can only recommend that every owner abide to respect and regard for theirs and surrounding properties.

Lake LaBrash is a small lake supporting resident cottagers who purchased and built with peace and tranquility in mind. Commercial zoning will destroy that. More boaters, hunters, parties and disruptionto the evironment and eco system.
