We are doing this petition to ensure that cheering will remain a sport. With the recent change we are not allowed to stand on the sidelines and or stomp and strike the bleachers which originated amongst African Americans in the 1970’s. Without those things how is it even considered cheering? We take pride in cheering and time, hard work, and dedication only to become spectators and not be able to do what we love which is cheer. We are sending this to the President of the James River District Wayne Hawkins.

Stomping is tradition and u cant just erase that. These girls work way to hard to be told they cant make noise on the sidelines. Let them cheer how they know how.
My niece works so hard and this is honestly disrespectful to the history of the sport. The energy at the games just isnt the same without the stomp!!
Cheering is one of the benefits of playing a home game in any sport. It’s a part of the sports culture.
Please look outside of the eyes of Amelia, to see the origins, and the style of cheerleading, that these young ladies are being deprived of. We took trips to VSU practice with the world respected and loved Woos Woos.
Don’t take cheer away!!!! Although people don’t think it’s a sport, it’s is. To most people cheer means a lot to them. It’s also nice to have girls cheer for you in football and basketball. No shouldn’t be a reason to not have cheer it’s like saying having other friends. I know a lot of people who do cheer and it means to literally world to them. And I’d hate to see them without it. Cheer is fun and cool not just cause of the uniforms but because of the learning you get with cheer and the amazing friends you make. So this is me standing up for my friend and cheer to keep it. Thank you for hearing me out!!!!
