Instead of cleaning their own house, DoBOR proposes to shirk the work by pulling out and privatizing your small boat harbors. Of course, they expect to continue to pay for their bloated staff from harbor revenue, they just don't want to manage them. This only benefits DoBOR and for-profit corporations at the expense of the public. Oppose SB1252, 1257, and 1258 and HB1032 and 1460.

It’s such a shame we even have to fight greedy, publicly detrimental propositions such as this. One of the best parts of Hawaii, even for visitors, is free access to all beaches. I fear passing this legislation will start a snowball towards losing public access to beaches and many of Hawaii’s public resources. Additionally, as society moves more and more towards catering to the dollar of tourists and rich investors, we marginalize the natives of the island more and more. When the local culture disappears or becomes widey known as victim to poverty, eventually—and ironically—Hawaii will become less attractive and the flow of tourism greedy politicians seek will begin to dry up. Let’s fight this and take a stand in keeping Hawaii Hawaiian.

Oh I get it. Price everyone out of honolulu, then start privatizing the harbors. I’ve seen this in California, no thanks. Shame on the legislators who are signing on with this bill, I’ll be showing my disapproval with my vote.
