Forcing players in an age range that has not been shown to be a source of community transmission is not only useless, but dangerous. This policy is downright irresponsible, and poses dangers to players who are otherwise statistically quite safe from Covid19. My son, for instance, has already had it, and it troubled him with all of a temperature raised. by half a degree for one afternoon. To avoid this ludicrous risk (which is not a risk), a mask policy would put these young athletes in danger of syncope, and head injuries when they fall down from lack of injury. I object in the strongest terms.

“Let them Play”! and “Let them Breath”- what kind of crazy science would require athletes or kids to wear masks.

Wearing a mask during high intensity physical activity like basketball may or will put an athlete at risk due to lack of oxygen for scientists and doctors who support this idea of wearing mask have little or no experience coaching and/or working with athletes. Athletes should be free to breathe and NOT have their a mask restricting their ability to breathe. This has nothing to die with the health and safety of the athlete but political and social conditioning.

Please do not force healthy kids to wear mask while exercising. If this was volleyball where they aren't running and exerting a lot of force that would be different. There is huge potential for getting hurt plus stifling breathing. This is dangerous. Please allow at least 2 people per player to watch. What if my child gets hurt? Who is liable? There is a reason the CDC says you should not wear a mask when running and working out hard. It is dangerous.

Did you know the NBA and College bball don't require masks? Grown men. To require our kids to wear masks is not only dangerous but also a huge liability. It is dangerous in multiple ways. Not to mention potentially causing severe breathing issues in healthy kids, but also the bacteria from sweat on a mask. What happens if someones hand gets caught on a mask? And then there are no parents allowed? What if my 11 year old son faints or gets hurt? Who will decide what happens? Who is liable for this? None of this makes sense. 16 states out of 50 are requiring masks. That shows something. If you want them to wear it on the bench fine - please do not make them wear them while running up and down the floor.

THE LIABILITY here is HUGE with forcing all kids to wear a mask AND then to not allow parents to come. It’s so dangerous in so many ways.
There is a reason jewelry isn't allowed in sports. What if someones hand gets stuck in a mask and pokes an eye out? A mask could go over a players eyes.
Not to mention the immense breathing risk. You have perfectly healthy kids breathing hard, running and sweating into a device meant to to not allow them to dispel air. The bacteria formed on the mask can create problems this child should not be exposed to. The CDC says ON their site:
"The CDC recommends NOT WEAR ING A MASK during high intensity activities, like running, if it causes difficulty breathing. Sweat can also make the man become wet, making it even more difficult to breathe through and could promote the growth of bacteria".
Not only is this endangering our kids but you are also saying parents can't be there?
What if there is an emergency and my student gets injured? He is at a higher risk of getting injured due to these requirements and I am not allowed to be there?
So who’s gonna make the decision to put them in the ambulance: is that the school? Is the school liable? Is Chsaa liable? What if they have an asthma attack from wearing a mask and the parent is not there to help them with their inhaler....
Especially with kids in middle school - how traumatic would that be? I would like to know the answer on LIABILITY with these decisions. My child can't even get really CO2 no the bench?
Especially with kids younger - it would be especially important for the parents to be there for medical reasons as well as emotional reasons.

I will not allow my son to play sports and wear a mask. I know many healthy kids who have collapsed due to a mask. My son loves bball and will be devastated but I will not threaten a perfectly healthy 13 year olds body and health with a mask. The number of people statistically shown to recover from Covid by the CDC is 99.9%. Please do not require healthy kids trying to have fun and stay healthy and exercise to do something proven harmful. We as humans need oxygen. Not just when playing sports but on a day to day basis. Please please do not require our kids to wear masks.
