My son had asthma and we have been able to treat it well enough for him to play sports. his entire life. Sometimes he needs to take a break, and sometimes he needs his inhaler but he makes it through fine. He has been able to play sports and benefit in all the ways they make him a stronger, more motivated, more confident person! We tried a basketball clinic where masks were required of all players over the winter, and it was imposible for him. He couldn’t play 5 minutes without needing to come off the court. Requiring masks of players will lead to many driven athletes that have thrived off sports their entire lives sitting on the sidelines. Figuratively and Literally! While there may be exemptions for such kid, my son is the type to not participate over being different. Let all these kids play mask free! We (along with any parent choosing to allow their kids to play!) knowingly agree there is risk involved. But the risks to my sons emotional & physical well being are greater in my eyes.

Players and parents both sacrifice alot in order to be involved in sports. Both parents should be allowed to watch their kids play.

There are enough precautions in place to keep our students safe. No masks during practice or play.

This is cruel. Athletes in other sports are not having to wear masks. College basketball players aren't required to wear masks. This isn't right and it's not healthy.

I am a high school basketball official and I think this mask requirement is crazy and very dangerous. I would rather see us say you must have a mask in and during time outs or breaks in play and you go to the bench you must bring up your mask. For officials the same. When having a conversation with coaches or table bring up your mask. Not during play.

You try to go run around constantly wearing a mask. Basketball is the only sport besides soccer where you are consistently moving. To breath you need air.

Absolutely ridiculous when every other sport doesn’t have to. On the bench is one thing, in the game doesn’t need to happen. Actually use science and not politics

NBA and collegiate athletes are not required to wear masks during competition and high school athletes should not be required to wear them either. Continuity should be required at all levels of competition.

NBA and collegiate players are not required to wear mask in competition, and neither should high school players be required to wear masks when on the floor.
