I am opposed to the naming of the bridge after JFK. The public should have been included more in the process.

Why on earth would you change the name of the Shannon Bridge to be named after an American president ?? Especially when there is a very long list of far more deserving local and national people and native irish names it can be called. That is if it needs to be changed at all ? At least give us a reasonable answer as to WHY ?? you wish to name it JFK bridge.

Limerick needs to maintain Shannon bridge's current name. We have plenty of local people who should be honoured by having a bridge named after them.
If the council are trying to rename the bridge in order to keep our American corporations or American visitors happy, or to ensure a 'donation' is offered to Limerick, offer an alternative Limerick landmark to be renamed. Jack already has a beautiful school named after him on the Ennis road; we want our bridge to remain as it is thank you.

I don't see why the name should change! And to be frank the complete lack of imagination and obvious lack of interest in our local history and heros is appalling - if you are going to change it pull the finger out and honor one of our own!
