What on earth are the council thinking, why oh why would they want to name the bridge over Irelands longest and most majestic rivers after an American president, when it's present name (The Shannon Bridge) is so apt.

The Shannon Bridge is a great name for the bridge celebrating the masterful river that flows beneath the bridge

Election coming and this is the best they can do. It's no wonder the public are disheartened with politics and politicians

The Shannon Bridge already has a perfectly good name surely the council could be dealing with something more constructive.

It already has its name, there's nothing wrong with it. The people who think these things up have way too much time on their hands, it would be more in their line to do something useful and put the funds to the needy.

We already have a school in Limerick named after JFK. Besides that there are at least 1 cities across Europe with bridges or streets named after him. JP has financed or party so, cancer services in the Regional University Hospital. Sporting Limerick, Scholarships, The Limerick Youth Service, Milford and god knows what else. On top of that he has had great success in racing in his own right. Let's honor the man while he is alive to enjoy it.

Does any one know why it might be called after the yank, JFK ? Might it be that both his great grandparents left bruff, Co Limerick and emigrated to Boston. Maybe it time to stop all this diaspora stuff. Once you emigrate out of this country, to hell with you

Do we not have any Limerick people to be proud of. We alresdy have Kennedy Park, and JFK school, so it's time to honour one of our own.

We have enough local heroes. We don't need to be honouring people who never lived in our town.
