Listen to the people of Bath and beyond who reject the kill mentality of USDA’s Wildlife Services. Use edible vaccines because they work. We want our beautiful fox neighbors alive and free.

The cruel methods of trap and kill are outdated and useless in making an impact on diseases like rabies. The medicines today are effective in combating rabies and can be placed in food in the affected areas. This has shown to be our answers today.

All too often short-sighted people make decisions that are permanent without understanding the ripple effects of their actions. The choice to trap and kill all rabies vectors in Bath is a knee-jerk reaction that will do unnecessary damage to the local ecosystem.

Foxes are one of the few big predator species in our local ecology. This seems like it could create more unforeseen problems...

This so-called solution will only result in the senseless deaths of dozens of healthy animals & do little for the rabies problem without taking preventative measures first. Gray foxes are highly intelligent & extremely cautious; my guess is that the traps will be more likely to capture raccoons, possums and people's pets than the targeted gray foxes. I don't have a solution, but I do know that this plan is a terrible and cruel one

No basis in science, just ignorant cruelty designed to give people a false sense of security. The state giving trappers a big party. I cannot believe they said trappers "help control wildlife populations." Trappers just torture animals for kicks. They serve no purpose whatsoever.

This is such a ridiculous knee jerk reaction that will upset the biodiversity of the species. This is not an evidence based best practice and should not be allowed

This is not only going to kill 400 foxes and a variety of unintended animals such as cats, dogs possums, skunks among others but is highly disturbing to a great many people as well.

This plan makes no sense at all. It will only end in the murder of healthy fox population.

Trapping foxes will only serve to throw the predator/prey balance in the area off, so you can look forward to outsized rodent problems over the next few years. If you then decide to bait the rodents with poison you'll see the devastating repercussions in birds of prey. Will we ever learn? For systemic problems, you need system based solutions.
Hold foxes that are not outwardly exhibiting symptoms, use vaccinated bait pellets, and SCIENCE. Vaccinating foxes that are healthy will provide the area with extended protection, and stop the cycle of rabies in a humane way. Use reason to guide your choices; not knee jerk reactions designed to provide a false sense of security.
