Foxes help keep the tick population in check by eating rodents. What will killing them do to the population of deer ticks and their primary host, mice? Or to cases of Lyme disease in the area? These are just some of many common sense questions Bath needs to contemplate before taking such drastic and unscientific action as contemplated under the proposed USDA & IF&W plan.

This is inhumane and it will completely throw off the ecosystem. This will bring in more rodents, ticks, etc into the area. There are other ways of dealing with this problem!

Trapping and killing all foxes in Bath is an inhumane approach to the problem. Wiping out all of the foxes will also affect the entire local ecosystem and will encourage more rodents, ticks, etc.

To kill the foxes is wrong--there are so many other options--for example, put out bait with rabies vaccine. Foxes are an important part of the ecosystem. Life is sacred--stop killing.

Foxes are very beneficial animals to have in the eco system. Without them around you will have a signifcant increase in rodents voles and mice. They are your first line of defence against a irruption of rodents. Where there are people there are rats. Don't kill them it will not solve the current issue but will for sure create a new one.

I strongly believe that all animals have their right to live. Its criminal to trap animals to kill. There has to be another way to help without killing them.

Leave them alone! These animals have just as much right to be here as people do.
They were created for a reason, and since I'm betting that God is a LOT smarter than you people, trust His judgement and leave the foxes alone!

There are other options--they are a more of a benefit than obviously you know--educate yourselves first before deciding to kill all of them--

How can anyone justify the taking of lives of uninfected animals en masse?

I would prefer trapping and relocating.

I am opposed to the mass killing of foxes, this will not solve the rabies issue. I work in a vet clinic, there are better means in which to handle this situation.

This is a terrible plan. C'mon Bath City Councilors, you can do better! I don't live in Bath but am prepared to boycott the entire city if you move forward with this cruel & ineffective plan to kill perfectly healthy animals. I will miss Fran who cleans my teeth, Jill who cuts my hair, Reny's, Brackett's, Just Framing, CVS etc. but I feel very strongly about this issue. Please look for a humane alternative for your rabies problem so I don't have to find alternatives to your businesses.
Balance is the key.
