This a reprehensible, over-reaction to fear mongering. The fox who have contracted rabies are most likely already dead from the disease. The traps pose a danger to indoor/outdoor pet cats who could be potentially caught in an unchecked trap and freeze to death.

How did these foxes get rabies? Shouldn’t you look for the source?

Please look into other ways to handle this matter. Trapping and killing all wildlife is a horrible solution!!

Please listen to us. There must be a better way than the proposed plan of trapping and killing more fox than rabid

The traps will not be lethal or harm the animal, but every wild animal caught in the traps will be euthanized. This is because it is impossible to confirm whether an animal is infected with rabies while it is alive because brain tissue needs to be tested...Please find another solution - all kinds of animals will be caught in those traps...

Barbaric, irresponsible and ineffective. This decision is a knee-jerk, poorly-thought-through and unacceptable response.

I do not agree with the current decision to set traps that will indiscriminately capture all wildlife and potentially, pets. The humanely euthanasia of all wildlife caught is not a solution. It is cruel and inhumane. I implore the City of Bath to research solutions beyond the suggestion of the Inland Fisheries and Wildlife Dept of Maine.
Respectfully,

Would like to know who signed off on this project and what is the position of the Maine Dept. of Wildlife. Horrified by the council’s actions to manipulate the Bath ecosystem which will have detrimental long term consequences.
