I am a local veterinary nurse and would be very sorry to see the vet lab in Inverness close as I can appreciate how sorely it's loss will be felt by local vets and farmers.

It would be a great lose for this part of scotland if this service was to close . Much more cost effective to keep open rather than having to go toEdinburgh

I just do not understand the reasons for closing down this vital service. It must be kept open in order to serve the Highlands and Islands, the farmers, the farm workers, the crofters.

Closure of this vital facility will have huge implications for the crofting, farming community and animal welfare in the North of Scotland. Does the plan to save a pitiful amount of money justify the greater loss to the region and veterinary health, I would suggest not. Blinkered bureaucrats need to conduct a more detailed damage analysis of the situation and long term requirement.

A local, quality post-mortem service provided by experienced pathologist vets is essential in the Highlands for both disease surveillance and the diagnosis of disease to support high standards of animal health and welfare. By the time carcases are collected and transported to another lab they will often be too decomposed by the time they are post-mortemed to be of any value.
