Gilbert Institute is and has always been one of the best public schools on the island and certainly should NOT be closed down. This needs to be re-thought out as it would be a hugh mistake.

We need to be aware of the other issues that they are also putting before the people they will try to use this as a ploy to take us away from the real issue that is the state as our children's education .

Pleaes do not close this school. Kids with special needs (both visible and hidden) require a smaller, nurturing environment and Gilbert is the place for them. The location is ideal and the family like community here is great.

My son went to this school and it was a great stepping stone before attending a big middle school and then an even bigger high school. My niece is currently in Gilbert and my sister went to Gilbert as well. Alot of history in this small school.

Closing the schools is not the answer to the financial problems government is facing. Our children are the leaders of tomorrow and need our support in every way possible! Reducing the number of schools and cramming students together in classrooms will only produce more problems. Additionally, forcing parents and guardians to drive out of their way each day to drop off their children to far off government appointed schools will cause further problems for all. The community will suffer endless amounts of issues over these actions. Do not close down the schools will add to traffic issues in the morning and afternoons during work commuting, among other social and community stresses. Reducing schools with the intended purpose of selling off the land along with terminating teachers to reduce the total numbers just to save a buck or two is not morally right. This is not the solution or the answer to the problems at hand with financial issues facing this government. Introducing new taxes (which is already taking form now as GST) is one way to overcome the financial issues. But if removing salaries is what is required, then perhaps start from the top and work down in the center of the government.
