grad of 1999 engineering. this school has made my entire life. if I didn't get the electrical background and the ecperience s of building an electric truck I wouldn't be able to do the things I do in my current job. don't change making it hard to get in and harder to stay molds great kids into great adults.

but how in the world are we going to have diversity if it's just one major? it's not like that in the real world, and i'm starting to find my artistic side with the IMP program students and i would of never found that if the whole school was just allied health

While I understand the desire for change, this one in particular isn't necessary to fulfill the desires of BCPS. You should not change one of your best schools to make it seem equal. It destroys a goal that I personally have heard a lot of people set to get into a prestigious school like Eastern Tech. Without a high standard, everything would be equal, and therefore any desire to do well in schools predating high school is destroyed. This can only set up a class for failure later, not the success this plan thinks it will have. This is exactly why communism doesn't work. The desire to work and better oneself is destroyed because everyone has the security that the larger body will provide for them, which ultimately sets up the entire system for failure.

I agree with every one who says that BCPS should not change the magnets at Eastern Tech. I have a question: why doesn't BCPS simply add magnets to the existing schools in the area (Kenwood, Chesapeake, etc.)? It will improve the other schools, which is what BCPS wants to do, and it won't hurt Eastern. It would benefit everyone

Don't change it. Why because it's a harder program harder to get into the school. You wanna go there work hard. That's what I had to do. Grad 1992 and I credited everything I have now on how hard I had to work back then.

A lot of kids get boored with standard lessons, thus they drop out or just get by. Magnet schools allow them to be more challenged thus increase their value to the world. Keep that program alive!

Students and teachers both worked hard to make Eastern the way that it is. Changing it is putting all the stress and hardwork of students and teachers in vain. Eastern Tech has a reptation of excellance and a name for itself. Don't change Eastern. Eastern changed the environment and world around it for the better.

Eastern Techs Magnet Programs are essential for the success of students as they prepare for college. I would not have been nearly as prepared for pharmacy school as I was if I had gone to any other school. The Allied Health Prigram has been instrumental in my success in college. Please do not change the Magnet Program!
