This group is here to urge DMU to upgrade their rather dated motion caption equipment to a more suitable one for today's standards. we are hoping to at least get the "animazoo igs 150" .
at this moment in time the equipment we have is too complicated and it takes far too long to transfer the data from motion capture into any kind of software, as a result of this the facility is never used and the students get left out of the education in motion caption which is so important for today's industry.
games have been using motion caption since the 70s,
movies have used it since 1995 and animated films since 2004
the importance of motion capture technology is greater today than ever before ranging from movies and games to animation and tv shows.
we urgently need the students to come together in this petition to voice to DMU just how important it is for us to get at least a basic understanding of mo-cap technology before it is too late!
please invite as many people as possible from the faculty of technology and related courses to show DMU our need for the education of this incredibly important technology in our fields.thank you

The current gear is honestly such a nightmare to use. Half the time spent in the lab is just dealing with bugs instead of actual animation work.
