Talk about an encouraging boost to morale and step toward showing further appreciation for the talented women and men that contribute to DLI’s positive reputation! Never refrain from giving honor and pay to whom honor and pay are due. It will come back to DLI in professional ways that keep attracting the best of the best who know their own worth.

This has been long deserved, and every single leadership member over the years knew this very well.
And even when they decided to apply it in 2017, they first ignored our well deserved increase for the previous years from 2001, and second they reduced our basic pay's totals then added the locality adjustments based on the reduced salaries to deprive us of more money (17% percent salary reduction)
We had been really been suffering of the high living cost in this very expensive area of Monterey county, CA, and many of us went in debts with the low pay. Please, we are looking forward to getting back our deserved money. We are in the USA, the lands of dignity and rights!

I fully support this petition for the Faculty and Staff at the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center at the Presidio of Monterey to get their unpaid "locality back pay" from January 2001 to July 2017.
It is true that Monterey was included in the San Francisco Locality Pay Area in January 2001; however, unfortunately, the faculty and staff at DLIFLC were deprived of their locality pay.
After many years of sympathetic efforts, faculty and staff at DLIFLC were NOT even successful in receiving their locality pay last year BECAUSE DLIFLC Leadership lowered the amount of annual salary by taking away between $7,000 to $12,000 from their annual salary at that time when they adjusted the locality instead of adding the locality into their actual salary.
