As a 15-year employee of DLIFLC, I have personally been asking for full locality pay for years. Finally, COL Deppart succeeded in getting our full locality pay starting from July 2017 going forward, and we are very thankful for his monumental efforts and that of his staff; however, the issue of our back locality pay that we are owed has not been solved. Since acknowledgment has been given that DLIFLC faculty was indeed supposed to be receiving locality pay, then what has always been owed to FPS faculty for all these years should now be paid in full. This would be very helpful to all of us if this would be possible. California is nearly impossible to buy a house or even rent a decent sized apartment in. A back pay would provide for the years of living under insane costs of living with an inaccurate locality pay.

We the people demand justice and justice for all. I worked at POM for five years. I started in 2009 with $1100 biweekly paychecks and $900 studio apartment rent, yet I haven't been able to pay back the money that I borrowed from my parents to cover my day-to-day expenses while I was living in Monterey.

This fiscal injustice is finally receiving the attention it deserves. The job of a teacher is not something a machine can do. This request for locality pay catch-up and back pay is an urgent operational issue that erodes away the ability by highly motivated and qualified individuals to remain in the area. Teacher turnover at DLI, along with the arcane tenure and promotion schemes add to the insecurity of Not to Exceed appointments (NTE day year to year). This is like being in probation every year. Finally, why is the pay for faculty that entered say in 2006, less than what teachers are being offered to start at DLI, currently based at 73,000 to 114,00. Teachers entering in 2006 are topping after 10 years at a of 63,000. Thank you.
