Need to have the explosive esperts sit with the HVO crew and consider how to construct a canal (bulldoze) from a likely spot and then blow open the selected tube at just the right spot.

I hope there is time to get some meaningful action on the ground! Need to explore the diversion option, if it is a viable option.

It would make sense to divert it and save Puna

I believe it is unconscionable to not a least explore diversion a the source of the lava flow.

The government needs to be involved in creating a solution to this and not a wait and see attitude.

This should be done now. We have lost all the infrastructure that took years and millions of dollars to get.

The lava needs to be deverted if can to save jobs and to keep business open. We should be praying to the lord cause he is the one that tells Pele what to do.

If the government does not divirt the lava away from Pahoa, it is guilty of negligence and a class action lawsuit should be directed at the responsible parties for damages caused by the lava.

I proposed this in the paper in Sept and got hate mail as a result. It is the best way to divert as this ongoing situation could break our island economy

If we don't try, how will we know? I hope the county realizes the money they will be losing with decreased tax value and collection. We are talking thousands of lives, businesses and properties effected here, either directly or indirectly. Do something, please!

No brainer. I am sickened by the attempts to use Pele as a scapegoat for liability issues. I would like to see what happens if/when lava threatens Hilo again. I bet diversion discussions will be changing.

I am a home owner in Leilani Estates. I do not believe in "Madame Pele" or other mythical tales, and do not appreciate our properties held hostage by some ancient Hawaiian lore. I support any efforts to protect us from destruction by what is a scientific geologic natural force, not a deity.

With all due respect for Madam Pele, I think we have enough technological resources to confront the problem and find the best solution to avoid disruption of thousand of lives in Lower Puna. Mount Etna proved successful attempt to divert lava long time ago. We should at least try to divert the magma at his source towards the least inhabitated slope(SW of the Pu'u O crater).
