One of the best features in the computer version of Minecraft is it's centralized authentication system. It makes preventing impersonation an easy and not so daunting task. When it comes to Minecraft: PE we've always been forced to use our own authentication methods.

Personally I was looking forward to an official login implementation, but that all changed when Mojang decided to alienate a large portion of their loyal players. According to this link 23,152,468 people have purchased a Minecraft account.

That is over twenty million potential username conflicts between the Minecraft premium account database and Xbox Live database. I myself fell victim to this. My Minecraft username "DALTONTASTIC" was registered on Xbox Live years ago.

I can't be the only one going through this dilemma. Now there is going to be a large multitude of players who are forced to either change their username or stop playing altogether. Our usernames define us and are a part of our online identity.

It would have made more sense to power authentication with the same system PC Minecraft uses. Mojang could have separated premium/lite accounts (if they aren't premium they can only play PE). If they would've opted to the use this system they could've reserved our usernames.

I am asking that Mojang either replaces Xbox Live authentication with the account.mojang.com system or completely ditches MCPE logins altogether. If you agree please sign this petition.
