District 64- wants to segregate 5th grade special needs kids

This is discrimination. FIGHT THIS. Sounds like the district tried to sneak this through, probably for budget reasons. No amount of money makes this idea a good one.

This will hurt the kids more then you think. They have made friends with other kids and to separate them is just wrong.

What seriously is wrong with our district?????? I have lived and sent my kids to District 64 schools their whole school careers and they are 37 and 34 and now you people want to change the system. May I ask WHY? Please send me a message and explain. I have a medically challenged grandson in the system and you are seriously going to make him go through more changes than he needs. REALLY? UPSET beyond. Leave these babies alone, they need more than you know. Who ever is doing this has no clue what it's like cause if you did YOU WOULD NOT ENDORSE THIS STUPIDITY>>>>AMEN!!! Oh and you can share whatever I say publicly cause that is how strong I am against this crazy thing you are trying to do.

As a special needs caregiver, I am stunned! Why exclude these kids? They deserve the same education, relationship building, and togetherness as everyone else.

As a special education teacher, I feel that this would be a horrible and discriminatory decision. I would be ashamed of this district if they do this.

Disgusted and saddened that EDUCATORS would make such a thoughtless decision on what is right for children. Impacting children who need protection the most? The lack of communication to the parents whose children will be impacted AND the board is absolutely horrifying.

Hopefully you can find a local lawyer to assist this effort. Clearly ADA issues beyond special education law by singling out this one group of students that has to enroll in middle school early.

This is discrimination against a minority. It must be stopped and challenged in court. I'm sure you can find an attorney who would take this case pro bono.

Moving them up to middle school early could harm them just as much if they cannot defend themselves or cant keep up with bigger work load. Also, not all kifs respond well to bigger peers. There needs to be individualization. They're are ADA laws to consider amd not just theclaw on a 4 yr gap.

Children who have IEPs have special needs. Socializing and participating with children their own age helps them feel secure and better for their self-esteem.

I think what's best for each individual child must be considered, rather than one rule that's supposed to pass for everyone. It seems the opposite of positive educational values to separate children from their peers. Not to mention the lack of information given to the children's parents. Not good.
