I am very worried of the effect that this change will have on both of my boys IEPs, one of which also has medical needs.

TA’s are invaluable. They establish learning relationships based on trust and respect with the kids. Taking that away from this population of kids is shameful.

This makes absolutely no sense. They should be allowed to attend their neighborhood school along with their siblings, for their entire school career. To prevent this is to discriminate against them. Please revise your plans for these special children and their teaching assistants.

These decisions seem to go directly against FAPE and least restrictive environment which is alarming. I do not understand how these sweeping decisions can be made without considering the needs of the individual students and all district stakeholders.

This is not a good action. Children need support.

I am a parent of a special needs child formerly in district 308. We had a terrible experience with my child’s IEP, hired an advocate, filed a state case against the school & finally a resolution. My child just completed 5th grade in a nearby district & has taken tremendous strides! Whether you’ve been through this or know someone who has - please consider signing this petition for current and future special needs children in district 308.

I am sorry that some people have a callous attitude towards a special education program

Special need children need stability and they need to see the same faces everyday or they get confused and scared

These amazing people are so very important to are children with special needs. My son would have never had the opportunity's in life, that he has now, if it wasn't for the hard work of all these people.

As a taxpayer in this district, mother of a special Ed teacher and TA.. grandmother of a special Ed student, and a retired social worker, I am shocked and frightened by this blatant disregard for this population! They need as many TAs for special Ed children, they need to provide training for these TA and they need to PAY A DECENT WAGE so they can retain them! District 308 should be ashamed by these “back room” dealings!
