I call on Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to dismiss Kent Hehr from the Veterans Affairs portfolio after his comments regarding a reservist being less of a soldier than a reg force member of CF. Canadian Forces Reserve members are a vital component in fulfilling Canada's military efforts at home and abroad.
The stories shared by reservists in the comments section highlight just how deep the hurt from these comments runs. I am working to ensure these experiences are brought directly to the attention of those in power who seem to have forgotten the value of our part time soldiers.

Seeing this momentum grow proves that so many of you understand the insult these words represent to our reservists. My heart is heavy thinking of the brave men and women I know who serve honorably, and your support keeps me focused on getting the accountability they deserve.

I have been battling VAC for more than 6 years to get benefits and services I am entitled to. All I get from his offices is templated form letters telling me how great they are doing. They are not doing great.

I served as both Reg f and Res f, as a reservist I was part of a unit that protected the Pacific Fleet and also served at Oka. The demands on a Reservist are greater the Reg f, between hunting for contracts, balancing career, family life and res f service, trying to maintain your health care, all for less pay but many more hours.

I was a Lt. in the reserves and we are no less willing to die for our country than any other reg force member. We all bleed.

I am signing this because he has to go. I have written many times yet he refuses to answer. He is the Minister if Missing in Action. Bye bye Kent.

The current minister is disingenuous and unhelpful to the veterans his portfolio. The sole reason this department exists.

GET RID OF THE DISGRACEFUL EXCUSE OF A VAC MINISTER. INSULT TO VETERANS.
