MS: Allow an Option to disable Metro UI in Windows 8.

I was buying a new laptop, so I purchased a copy of windows 8 to upgrade my desktop from windows 7 to 8 as well... Now that they are both windows 8, I use my smart phone now mostly. ... Windows 8 looks like a team of giggly teenage girls got together and designed it. If you're interested in doing anything but checking facebook and surfing cute kitty pics, you are in for a grindingly difficult procedure. ....I will be switching to Apple products, unless something is done to repair the windows op sys productivity.

Kick this from our Pc's, they are not iPad !!!! Why W8 ? 7 was very good...and fonctionnal. So no powerfull classic desktop --> migrate to Linux

Windows8 Metro is awful to look at, awful to use and harder than it was to use the old menu system. Microsoft admit you got it wrong and give us a way to GO BACK!

Windows 8/8.1's user interface is unfit for purpose when used on a desktop or laptop imo. Microsoft have alienated me from purchasing any more of their future releases for these platforms. Shows what happens when you take your existing customers for granted!

It's nonsensical and annoying to try to use an interface designed for tablets on a desktop pc. Keyboard and mouse are not intended to be used as a replacement for fingers on a touchscreen.

Does Microsoft care about their veteran users? We are used to the good old start menu ever since Windows 95! If future versions remain as poorly designed as Windows 8, I'm switching to Linux.

Windows 8 has all sorts of useless Apps I don't want and left off useful things like Start button, all programmes display at press of button. I don't want to swipe all the time which is not always reliable nor do I want to have to guess where things are to click/swipe on the screen. Windosw 8 seems to be desigbed for morons who can only deal with pictures

I hate Windows 8 and bought a Mac.

As both a graphic designer and a heavy computer user, all I can say is Nuke Windows 8 Metro from orbit. Just obliterate it. Nothing of value is found in its code and it better not ship with windows 9.

I purposefully purchased a refurbished laptop off of the internet, because I did not want a computer with windows 8. The people thought they would be nice and put windows 8 on it before it shipped. I had to reformat it and install windows 7 I can not stand the ui in windows 8 I prefer the classic start menu. I personally prefer a clean desktop where my picture can be seen. I also only pin a couple icons on the bottom of the screen so I rely heavily on the start menu. also I prefer the way that aero looks to the new style. I hope that they don't make the same mistakes with windows 9 listen to the people and what they wan, or you will lose them completely to another operating system. I for one know that if you don't give the people the option of the classic start menu then I will be looking elsewhere for my operating system needs...

Please give me back the start button and task bar !!

After seeing where Windows 8 is headed, I got a touch screen. But further looking at Windows 8, there are other limitations, like the number of concurrent apps one can have on their desktop, I do NOT like. Here's the thing. We pay more for our desktops and laptops, then one does for a tablet. And don't get me wrong, I have an Android phone, and the UI on the thing is suited well for a phone with a viewing screen that's small enough to fit in the palm of one's hand. But it is NOT well suited for a 20" monitor, with much more screen real estate. I'll be blunt here. If Windows 9 goes the way Windows 8 has with Metro, and if the UI continues to be restricted to the lowest common denominator of a tablet PC; if support for Windows 7 via service packs and security fixes, and driver support for newer device also goes to the wayside; I would switch to Linux, and look for all my software support to be provided by Linux before I would buy a Metro UI based operating system that is as restrictive as Windows 8 or 8.1 is. I also have no intention of ever buying Windows 8 or 8.1 for my own personal computer, so long as this UI is pretty much what there is. I have seen Windows 8 on other computers before, and tbh, I strongly dislike the whole Metro UI, and the very restrictions the UI imposes upon the user wrt multitasking, and hindrances to productivity in using the machine. I would not want to willingly subject myself to your so-called "modern UI" on a desktop or laptop computer.

I can not stand windows 8 or 8.1 I have rolled back to the older 7 pro which I love. If this is the future path for windows I will make the transition to Mac OS.
