Dick Allen played at a very high level despite being exposed to racism and much verbal abuse. How he competed at such a high level really is a huge accomplishment. He was the 1964 NL Rookie of the Year also the AL 1972 Most Valuable Player. His 165 OPS+ from 1964 to 1974 ranked him Number One, in All of Baseball. He was in front of 17 future Hall of Famers. Names such as Aaron, Mays, Bench, Clemente , McCovey and Stagell. If that is not impressive enough to gain entrance into the Hall of Fame then the Hall of Fame has no integrity. Dick Allen should have been in the Hall of Fame years ago. However, his refusal to speak to the press, severely hurt his chances on the BBWAA ballot. Now that he is past that point of the election process I would hope the Players he played against would put him where he belongs ,which is in Cooperstown !

The Legend of Dick Allen. Never seen him play. Heard and saw a few highlights. One of the greatest players in the era that he played. Stats prove he is a true and worthy Hall of Famer

I have read recently, that over a ten year period from 1964 to 1974 Dick Allen was the most productive offensive player in ALL of Baseball. I think that would warrant a call to Cooperstown.

My father told me about him and then I saw a feature on TV. Those who were sitting on the panel were very impressed with Dick Allen's Statistics. If they were impressed and my dad basically said the same thing then I would have to believe that Mr. Allen should be in the Hall of fame.

Dick Allen has the 19th Highest Sluggest Percentage in the History of Baseball. He has been overlooked for too long. Now is the time to enshrine !!
