Over the last several months I have read numerous creditable accounts of many, many cats being needlessly euthanized. Only very basic care is given (and at times, not even that) so that the animal then becomes 'not adoptable' by the standards of this shelter, thus creating a 'justifiable' reason to euthanize. Additionally, this shelter is very well funded by local government, therefore no excuse for this behavior can be warranted. The vet on staff seems to work at creating situations where the cat(s) will die to avoid the optics that excessive euthanasia statics would bring. At a minimum, thorough investigation of this facility, vet, staff, and tracing the money should be completed in a transparent manner. Please take action. The inhumanity occurring there should not be allowed to reflect on San Bernardino, CA.

Everyday the Devore Animal Shelter euthanizes animals literally within a few days of intake. Most have no behavior or medical issues. This practice dies not give any time for the animal to be published for the public to see to consider adoption. I follow volunteer groups on Instagram who network with rescues to try to save as many lives but this is not always successful and many animals are killed for no good reason. In my opinion this shelter is not acting as stewards or advocates for this animals to help them find their owners or get adopted. They continue to be “in business” without any checks and balances. This petition asks for the shelter to be shut down because of their euthanasia practices. Please join me in signing it to close it down. These animals deserve better.

I have seen so many lives taken at the shelter often for no reason then it seems they want to kill. They will kill in and tip dissipation of the trucks coming in and maybe bringing more animals. They intake so many trapped cats from citizens it is ridiculous why don’t they start a TNR program, why don’t they work with the public on spaying and neutering instead of just intaking and killing.

I know devore and I rescue pulls cats from devore and they are murderers. Kills cats 7 days a week nonstop. They animal advocates down there to educate people. And stop trapping and dumping them in that shelter

Animals deserve to be “sheltered” and cared for and made to feel safe and get healthy at a shelter. Not killed because some person surrendered their animal or they were sick and needed help. We need to do better by these beautiful creatures. They have as much right to be here as humans!! This shelter and others like it should be shut down if they can’t perform the definition of what a shelter is. Shame on them!!
