Develop Historic Broadway NOT wastefully widen the roadway

If it is true that traffic hasn't increased for 20 years WHY ARE YOU GOING TO WIDEN BROADWAY and demolishing a part of Tucson that will be lost to future generations FOREVER! You may promise beautiful landscaping, more businesses, better handling of traffic etc. but you know that is just not going to happen for years to come. Have you even considered pedestrians trying to cross this wider street? There is NO REASON to ignore the majority of Tucsonans when we say ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!

Cars are the dinosaurs of today; let's make Tucson about walking and biking!

The 2006 RTA vote has no bearing on the facts & stats now shedding light on Broadway use. Tucson is seeing reduced automobile use, increased cycling and public transit. The RTA plan needs to reflect these changes. Design Broadway to reflect climate friendly and neighborhood-preserving future. Repaving can be done on countless other streets where people walk & bike and safety is included in the designs. I urge every City Council member to vote to stop wasteful spending and plan for the future we, Tucsonans want: pedestrian and bike friendly, environmentally sound and neighborhood building.

Higher-income earners move to tucson because it's different, not to see more strip malls and traffic corridors. You already forced me (a doctor) out of rosemont west with the crappy Romo development that doesn't even have an anchor yet. Use your heads! You can't big-box your way into prosperity!!! Projects like these destroy neighborhoods and lead to flight of homeowners with disposable income! Makes NO sense. If this goes ahead I will have only to assume you are responding to fat donations from developers and contractors.

Tucson needs to maintain its historic buildings and businesses, not tear them down for an unnecessary wider road. It's sad to see how much individuality and uniqueness has already been destroyed here for strip malls and chain stores...let's not lose this area as well.

Please don't destroy what makes Tucson great and that's the small businesses that have been here forever.

No to a wider road. More is not necessarily better.

This plan is a 1960s solution to a nonexistent problem. Kill the plan. Let investment by property owners begin. Plan for bikes, pedestrians and mass transit. We DO NOT need a wider road.

Our history is our culture. Please rethink this before making Tucson just another town.

I fully agree. Fix our Tucson streets first and keep some of our historic look. Downtown is already updated and thriving with business but where is small business in all of this? Grow more towards Rio Nuevo???? Oops

Please do not waste the time and money adding more lanes to this eyesore of a street. It will simply lead to more traffic and more congestion.
