Develop Historic Broadway NOT wastefully widen the roadway

Every intelligent city is moving in the opposite direction: less motorvehicles, less pollution, less noise. You are sending the wrong message, over relying on fossil fuels. Make our neighborhoods better, not worse.

Do not widen Broadway. Contemporary urban design emphasizes integrating streets and neighborhoods for more livable cities, which this design does not accomplish.

The project is unnecessary and waste of money needed elsewhere.

Keep historic structures to enhance our future. Say no to the Broadway widening project, say yes to preserving our sense of place.

Yes, monies should be spent on residential roads in every community, especially where roads haven't been touched in years. Make communities look better.

It would be so wasteful to do the widening now. Can we wait 5 years and revisit it then?

Widening Broadway makes no sense at all. $75 Million would be spent, only to destroy historic buildings, remove character from our city, cause great upheaval and worsen the traffic flow, not only during the project, but after completion, because three lanes will then need to merge into two lanes. Traffic on Broadway now is no worse than it was decades ago, when this project was initially proposed, due to a then projected increase in traffic. There is simply no rationality in spending the money on this project in order to save drivers an average of six seconds or one minute of drive time as has been estimated.

The 30% Plans are not responsive to the people who have spent time and energy at meetings. Overwhelmingly the meeting participants have requested a more livable Broadway not a wider/faster/more dangerous Broadway! The project needs to be more forward thinking and not tied into the car culture of the past. There should be a focus on what the neighborhoods want. As oppose to the people who will be driving through as quickly as possible. The businesses will be bought out and the neighborhoods are going to be stuck with vacant lots with no plans to fill them.

We need to accommodate the growing demand for bicycle friendly roads!

Vote no on an outdated plan to waste millions of dollars, and let's say no to those who stand to personally benefit from these kinds of decisions, let's make more timely and wise decisions for our city, not old ones stuck in paper trails and consulting fees, etc, thanks,

I think more thought needs to go into this decision. I can't image why we need more road if it only increases traffic flow by 6 seconds and eliminates businesses and homes that are part of established neighborhoods.

The ability to bike and walk in Tucson year round is one of my favorite things, I rarely ever use my car in Tucson.

I walked across the country and witnessed communities that were rebuilding their culture and identity through resiliency planning and gardens; not by more roads! This project will not reduce our carbon footprint and it will worsen our heat-island effect.

Think sustainable.... Think healthy..... Think other species... Lead....Not Follow.

This could be Broadway in Anywhere, USA. I totally agree with the petitioners: do not widen Broadway. I've seen in my own neighborhood in Oakland, Calif., that designing a street so pedestrians and cyclists can also get around safely makes local areas more vibrant, with thriving businesses. This kind of neighborhood becomes a magnet for an area.

Who does this benefit? Not bikers. Not pedestrians. And there is no compelling need for drivers either! Let's save our money and spend it on something better!

Stop wasting Tucson's money and time and energy by encouraging more people to drive. Spend this money on mass transit. Get people to stop driving.

fix the existing streets! I just had a friend visiting from out of state and was embarrassed at the condition of our roads. Hopefully it will be raining soon but painfully that makes the location of potholes impossible to predict. FIX OUR STREETS
