Develop Historic Broadway NOT wastefully widen the roadway

From the first time I heard about the widening of Broadway I thought it would be a complete waste of resources, time and money. I live at the corner of Highland and 14th St and make numerous tips to the Home Depot at El Con Mall at all times of day and night. I have never had an issue waiting in traffic for more than a couple of minutes and have never had to wait through two changes of a traffic light to move ahead. I would vote for NO WIDENING of this stretch of Broadway and perhaps two or three bus turnouts at best. Other options might be a better bike lane, though there are alternate routes for bikes. They are already widening Grant Road with no real improvements. As soon as a road it widened, it fills with traffic and nothing is faster or safer. Let's improve our cities in real ways, not by giving money to out-of-town contractors.

This is madness and will turn Tucson into one big fat highway. The development of business and residences should be the priority!

Widening Broadway is a regressive idea that will exacerbate the decay of this city and degrade the quality of life here.

It takes me less than seven minutes to get downtown during rush hour, from Broadway and Swan. We don't need it any wider or faster.

I am against widening Broadway. It will not be safer or faster .

Please do not waste our money! Do improve the quality of our existing but shoddy streets. 1) We do not need a widening of Broadway. We do need our washboard streets to be milled and repaved so our cars won't fall apart from rattling. $75 million would repave a lot of streets. 2) The planned extension of Aviation thru to I-10 will divert a lot of the traffic anyway. 3) The BUS ONLY lane on Broadway from Euclid west under the RR overpass is NEVER used by busses, and then becomes the turn lane for Toole. 4) We put a man on the moon. So we should be able to divert the money despite the legalities of the bond issue commitments. Conditions do change!

It is time to use our money more wisely to create a Tucson that honors our history and encourages honest community input.

Please do not turn our beautiful city into a nightmare and make it look like Phoenix or Los Angeles. Listen to the people who live here!!! Don't ruin the beauty and uniqueness of Tucson.

I am unable to go to the meeting tonight and this is the only way I know to have my voice heard. Please Tucson. Keep making us proud!

Let's put the money into developing alternative energy sources!

Wasteful and stupid.

I could name a dozen streets that actually need work done on them. Why not take that obscene price tag estimated for this project and actually spend it on something that is actually useful instead of wiping out historical buildings. I find myself actually wondering who will profit from this ill-concieved plan?

What is most disturbing are the changes made after most of us thought an acceptable alignment had been negotiated. Bad faith just keeps spreading like a virus.

Preserve, don't destroy!

$75 Million, don't spend this, only worsen and destroy one of Tucson's oldest neighborhood with terrible traffic that surrounds us via East Broadway and East 6th street. Doesn't any one have a better vision for a better outcome to E. Broadway?

This is a waste of resources that will only worsen our current infrastructure problems and destroy yet more of Tucson's vibrant history. We need neighborhoods and community, not traffic and pollution.

This plan reeks of someone getting paid because of political backing in a campaign, sorry but this is what we have come to expect in the post- Rio Nuevo era. Why do we want to pay to widen historic Broadway though traffic hasn't increased for 20 years? We don't. How about some real economic development instead of this fake fast jobs and bloated infrastructure that we don't need, better to spend the money subsidizing an industry that has a chance of producing economic gain for the working families in Tucson. You want to know why this country is in a political backlash, because of projects like this. Mayor and Council and you tone deaf here?

Please don't!!!! Just keep as is…we implore you!!!

$75 Million! Please don't spend it. Tucson needs road repair. Much more space for bicycle traffic. Bigger Wider roads always increases traffic.
