We need residential development and NOT industrial development in Pilsen. We got rid of the coal plant that was polluting Pilsen and the city. Why would we want to open up the possibility for new industrial polluters to come into the neighborhood?

We cannot allow Danny Solis to act in his best interest, rather than the best interest of the neighborhood. This site is doing nothing to support the community as it stands today, and rezoning it for industrial use cannot be allowed. Solis is allowing a big new development elsewhere in his ward (Roosevelt South Loop project), but blocking anything from happening here. It is a clear conflict of interest that as the head of zoning he is pushing to squash any future residential or mixed use development on this site. Say no to Solis!

I live a block away from here. The best use of this site, both for the community and maintaining affordable housing is to maximize the unit count. The very first proposal with 500 units, even with only the lower affordable threshold, would have been best.

This is vacant lot is an eyesore for the community and more importantly, we are in desperate need for an increase in the tax base. Responsible development would be great for Pilsen, University Village and the economic spillover will be great for surrounding neighborhoods within the 25th Ward.

If this area will hvae access to the (east end?) of the newly planned bike path, then at least part of it should be granted to the park district for a "grand entrance" - I also think a food truck lot like south Congress in Austin (Texas) would maintain the mom & pop spirit that the Pilsen Alliance presumably wants.

This empty lot affects University village and east pilsen more than it does the heart of Pilsen. Its an eyesore not safe for the neighborhood. Rezoning to mfg no thank you.

As a resident who lives across the street from this site, I would like to see its development to improve the area as a whole. The development of this site would benefit the immediate area, as well as Pilsen as a whole.

Danny Solis is a crook. Low income residential areas and crime go hand and hand. Last week someone was shot on the corner of 18th/Halstead at express grill. This isn't a gentrification problem, this is a politically driven act to control gentrification and slow economic growth in Pilsen, to retain the hispanic vote in good faith that Solis will not allow what may be best for the future of this neighborhood.
