Docomomo Florida, a non profit organization concerned with the preservation of important mid-century modern buildings, has applied for historic designation of “Office in the Grove”, 2699 S. Bayshore Dr. (corner of 27th Ave. & S. Bayshore). This iconic building set on a pedestrian friendly landscaped berm was designed in 1972 by Internationally known architect Kenneth Treister, FAIA. Office in the Grove is now in danger of demolition by its owner.

As a historic preservationist born and bred in coconut grove I believe in the potential of adaptive reuse and rehabilitation of historic properties to support sustainable growth in urban neighborhoods! Please designate this building!
Miami Design Preservation League supports the designation of 2699 S Bayshore Drive, having found that it meets several criteria for historic designation and is an important example of its style of architecture.
I have lived in the area for over 30 years and I want to see this building receive an historic designation. Elegant mid century modern. Miami has no sense of history so lets keep this one.
Although I am not a Florida resident, I am a Florida tourist, and I am concerned that the great mid-century buildings I would love to see will be gone when I get there again. Please consider our mid-century heritage just as important as the eras that came before. Thank you.
I live in Yacht Harbour. Ken Treister's artwork should be preserved as his architecture is a very important part of Coconut Grove, Florida. The destruction at Mayfair is unforgivable. Please do not do the same to Office in the Grove.

Kenneth Treister has put forth a lot of effort building this structure. It is a piece of our city’s history, and therefore should be maintained.

This is an iconic building that adds to the architectural texture of the grove. There is still significant available inventory on the market, plus the building that Terra intends to demolish and replace just to the north.
