I don't like forfeiting my swipes, and I don't like the available times to use my swipes. It doesn't matter if the swipes give me more bang for my buck if I may not be able to get to the dining hall in time to use them. This meal plan will rob me of my money.

Implementing these changes without prior support of the student body is extremely unfair and has caused widespread disappointment. It is NOT more flexible than the old system. It also limits students abilities to eat wherever they want without restrictions. Even if the hub's food was as great as 2 west, this new plan is still awful. But hub food is a travesty, and so is this ridiculous plan.

It is wrong for the administration to leave DePauw students in the dark about these changes. As many students have pointed out, the university should have informed us of these changes prior to the deadline for housing selections. It is clear that The Duck and 2 West are popular dining venues for students. For me, it is not just because of the extended variety and ability to eat al a cart, these venues provide a social scene that is beneficial and unique to my DePauw experience. If Bon Apetite is to gain further monopoly over students dining options, the result will be devastating. Many workers at The Duck and Two West will face wage and hour cuts. This is not fair! Students, I urge you to voice your opinions now. We deserve more choices as well as the opportunity to see our local bars and restaurants succeed.

We must demand transparency moving forward. It was inappropriate for the university to have students sign-up for housing without notifying us of the changes in Rector Village meal plans. I would have picked a duplex had I known that I could not eat most of my meals at the Duck and 2 West where the food is significantly better in both variety and quality. I understand that Bon Appetit has to make a profit, but they'd be better off bringing back the "a la carte" model as opposed to the current "all you care to eat model." The "all you care to eat model," quite frankly encourages overeating and obesity. Under the a la carte model, our previous service provider was better able to keep track of demand and there was less waste. To reiterate, my trust in the administration has diminished as a result of their poor communication and lack of transparency. I'm going to guess that they chose to unveil the new plan after housing sign-ups because they knew there would be a lot of backlash, and rightfully so. Here's to controlling our diets so that we may further control our waistlines and our overall health. I don't want to eat two big meals at the Hub/Den/Cafe every day, and neither should you!!

I should be able to use my money, which has been prepaid, at the already limited amount of food places on campus. It is unfair that i should have to be forced to eat full meals at the Hub for a large percentage of my meals rather than small snacks at the den or more weekend meals at the cuk, two west, or any number of the greencastle restaurants that have chosen to be aparat of the program. Furthermore, this new revised meal plan does not offer a real world experience most college kids learn: budgeting. If meals are simply numbers, then we won't get the real world experience of having a finite amount of money and making it work with how we eat. Lastly, the thing that bothers me the most is this decision, which solely effects the students, was made without student consideration. There were no forums, talks, discussions, or anything to allow us to voice our own opinion BEFORE changes were made.

We are DePauw students... Instead of putting in a program that forces us to be limited with finances, why can't you encourage a proper budgeting of our meal plan? Make the point that it runs out at the orientation weekend. It just feels like this new plan contracts what it means to grow up and be on your own in college

I would say my biggest issues with this are that the Den is closing and the Hub's hours. If these issues are addressed I'd be more willing to adopt a swipe based system even if it does limit our options.

I am against this meal plan because I spent the vast majority of my meal plan at locations other than the hub. I do not enjoy the food at the hub and I do not want to be forced to eat 90% of my meals there next year. Not only is it that I dislike the food, but I also regularly eat meals at times that the hub is not open. Finally, I urge the university to consider the fact that many students will not express their dislike for this plan because it will not affect them directly. It will, however, affect the class of 2019, which will have no say in the matter.

I hope you know upperclassmen actually use more than 200$ a semester on Duck/2west and eat way less than 2 times a day at the Hub

This new meal plan would really hurt 2 West. I depend on my job there to pay for school and the employees there already struggle enough when we are gone for the summer. Last summer they had to close down, leaving their employees without work for weeks.
