please get rid of this new plan at let people have a choice whether they wan the new one or the old one. It is not fair to take something away from students which out letting them decide

1. As an employee at 2west, this new meal plan is detrimental to the restaurants in the Inn at DePauw. The vast majority of customers who eat at both the Duck and 2west are students, not patrons of the Inn. Structuring the meal plan in such a way would cause the student population to basically leave these two establishments and reduce the amount of revenue for the many employees who work at these restaurants (myself included). It wouldn't be completely unrealistic to think that the establishment would close all together or reduce their hours greatly, causing many employees to lose their jobs or for their hours and thus wages decrease as students will be not be eating at these restaurants or will be less willing to tip appropriately when they do.
2. As the petition states, this meal plan "will further grant Bon Appétit Management Company (the main food service provider for DePauw) significant power to dictate" where, how, and what we eat on campus. GDIs and first-years will have to eat at the places they most want to avoid, i.e. the hub. I practically refuse to eat at the hub, but usually opt for hub express instead for lunch. I love the mission of Bon Appetit, but the food they make on our campus is not good.
