I am a senior living in a place where I have a brand new kitchen, complete with a dishwasher. This new meal plan is so expensive and strict, that I cannot buy or prepare my own food without loosing a great deal of money. If I am required to have a meal plan, that is fine but I better be able to use my money at my own pleasure, not when they tell me. And when I don't use it all within a week, they should not be able to STEAL my money by erasing my swipes or not allowing me to use multiple swipes at a given time. This meal plan is stealing our money, there is no way of denying it.

If we don't receive any freedom now, when will we ever learn how to budget food money?

Absolutely ridiculous that you can only use one swipe in a certain time limit, and that any unused swipes are forfeited. Bon Appetit is making a ton of money off of this horrible plan.

The old meal plan was perfect. Why changing for the worse?

Are you kidding me, DePauw? First of all, this isn't what I signed up for when I opted into university housing. Second, swipes don't roll over each week -- I lost 5 unused swipes AKA a good chunk of MY money at the end of last week. Third, meal swipe time periods make absolutely no sense, don't allow for multiple swipes in one time period, and force me to eat only when DePauw sees fit for me to do so. Change this disaster of a meal plan and stop treating us like financially irresponsible children.

There wouldn't be as many issues if there were choices to either have all flex dollars and no swipes, or if the swipes didn't expire every week. I think it is ridiculous that we spend money on a meal plan that has a weekly expiration.

As a parent with 2 students on the meal plan, I am furious. This is money I earned, and expected that my adult children would have access to food when they needed. They are both unable to use all swipes, yet cannot use the extra money (yes, again, MY money) to purchase healthy food to take back to student housing.

(1) I do not have the time to get school food during the hours set, (2) do not have the appetite for such huge portions, such expensive meals, and such unappetizing food, (3) I am in a duplex and prefer to make my own food because it fits my schedule, can be anything I want and any portion I want, is healthier, and frankly much cheaper,

This meal plan dictates how I eat and when I eat. I am a grown adult, I can make my own decisions! This meal plan is ridiculous!

Fun fact- the old meal plan allowed for students to learn how to budget- students who ran out of money? Not really the rest of the student body's problem.

There was nothing wrong with the previous meal plan, I don't understand why it was changed.
