My name is Perky Knoll, I am almost 32. I have had epilepsy since I was 5. In about 4 years ago I was diagnosed with Osteoporosis due to Depakote. I had been on depakote since I was 9 or 10 years of age. They did not have on the label at that time that it causes bone density loss. I did not even know that it did, until I was diagnosed with Osteoporosis, and My neurologist took me off the stuff right away. I am starting this petition to help others with similar problems, for a possible class action lawsuit. To send a message to these drug companies that they need to figure these things out ahead of time. That they really mess up peoples bodies, and need to be held accountable. I had brain surgery and had to have 25% of my right temporal lobe removed to try to get rid of my epilepsy. I still have seizures. I have a lot of back issues. MULTIPLE SPINAL FRACTURES. Severe Degenerative Disc Disorder. Last time I checked the bottom 3 discs have no vertebrae in between them so the discs rub on each other. I also have osteoarthritis. I BEG YOU. IF YOU OR SOMEONE YOU KNOW HAVE TAKEN DEPAKOTE, FOR 5+ YEARS AND HAVE BONE ISSUES SIGN THIS PETITION. I WILL BE PUTTING THIS IF I GET A LOT OF SIGNATURES TO A LAWYER.... A VERY GOOD ONE, AND WE WILL NOT LET THESE THINGS GO UNANSWERED FOR. GOD BLESS AND I PRAY THAT THINGS GET SET RIGHT..

I have been taking Depakote since I was first diagnosed with Epilepsy 16 years ago ( I am 30 years old). I constantly hear my bones cracking when I stand up or move around. I have not been diagnosed with osteoporosis but this is Very concerning to me since my neurologist will not take me off of it. I was taken off of it once, when I was first diagnosed and I had multiple grand Mal seizures. This makes me scared about what else they are hiding and not putting on the medicine's label.
I sign this petition because, I created this, I am the one that my doctor told me depakote caused me to have osteoporosis, my mother and I were NEVER TOLD ANYTHING. This has affected MY LIFE!!!!!
My son took Depakote at first for his seizures. He has broken several bones since. Maybe I need to have him checked for osteoporosis.
im just getting a petition together to lobby goverment to stop depokote it causes dementia and suicides cancer it might help people who have fits but its not for everyone
oops I forgot one thing don't know if this well help on my MRI it says this "spinal stenosis"
yes am on facebook thanks I well look for your group, no I never thought of asking for a bone density test, I think I have medicare hope they cover the test, right now I take Topiramate for my seizures, I just got so bad news that my new primary care doctor wants me to have surgery done on my lower back and not to do physical therapy that my neurologist wants me to do, man am so confused :( and thinks for letting me know about the milk thistle I sure am going to get some, I ready do take vitamin D3 thanks again need all the remiders I can get lol

I have taken Depakote for years and have severe back problems,bone spurs in my hips,Degenerative joint disease,knee replacement because of bone and loss of cushion between bones,sciatica,spinal stenosis.
