Deny S. Prakash Singh Badal Panth Ratan Fakhar-e-quam

Deny S. Prakash Singh Badal Panth Ratan Fakhar-e-quam Preserve the sanctity of the prestigious award for the truly noble and deserving The SGPC, the Governing body of the Sikh religion worldwide, has announced that they will honour S. Prakash Singh Badal with the great honour of âPanth Ratan Fakhar-e-quamâ (Jewel of the Panth, Pride of the Nation). The award is usually bestowed on those who have significantly contributed to the Sikh religion, devoting their lives to its development and good. S. Prakash Singh Badal has only hijacked the SGPC and Sikhism for his own good and that of his family and the award should be withdrawn immediately. Not only has S. Prakash Singh Badal obstructed the independence of the SGPC, politicising it beyond compare, but under his influence it has also lost all transparency. Under the political rule of the Badals in Punjab, the SGPC has become an extension of the SAD and now lacks even an independent audit of its financial affairs. By conferring this award on S. Prakash Singh Badal, they are confirming his influence over what should be an independent religious governing body. What other than one of S. Prakash Singh Badalâs power over his proxies to influence the SGPC could have resulted in this Award? Not a single action of S. Badal has demonstrated that he is acting for the good of the Sikh religion and its development. He should only be awarded for being the most corrupt Sikh there has ever been. S. Prakash Singh Badal should be denied the Award on many grounds, but including sacrificing Sikhism and Punjab for personal achievement. Unless S. Prakash Singh Badal is prepared to swear in the Akal Takht that he has never made money from corruption, this award should be withdrawn. Previous Awardees are S. Gurcharan Singh Tohra and Master Tara Singh. Both of whom spent a lifetime devoted to the Sikh religion. S. Prakash Singh Badal should not be put into the hall of fame alongside these men.
