My husband was born and raised in Larimer County. We long ago (37 years ago) purchased a nice rural home on some pleasant agricultural property at 2601 WCR54G, which is directly across this old 287 highway from the proposed site of this view-wrecking, air-polluting, noise-producing, money-grabbing, traffic-congesting, land-devaluing, serenity-destroying, ill-situated gravel pit and concrete batching plant.
We place NO trust in promises by LRM, or anyone else, that there will be no or little impact on nearby homes and residents. (We listened to these promises when the Stegner gravel pit was proposed. We attended meetings. We were promised that there would be no effect on our nearby property, a short 100 yards or so away. Big cracks ultimately appeared in our asphalt surfaced areas, waterflow under our house developed,---had to install a permanent sump pump to control it---and certainly the promised beautification of the site never materialized.}
Additionally, we invested in nearby acreage which was pre-zoned for development nearer to LaPorte's center, and followed through with the Kintzley Plaza, with the quiet unobtrusive apartments existing there now. There is NO doubt that this proposed gravel pit and batch plant will wreak havoc on this quiet venture, and especially the tenants, many of whom have lived there for lengthy periods of time, and some of whom will certainly have health issues arising from this ill-advised enterprise immediately next door.
Bottom line is that this serene corridor to the Poudre will be disrupted, not temporarily, but permanently with the concrete crushing and batch plant installation.
We strongly object to this.

This project promises to destroy a very nice neighborhood and way of life. I have lived in Laporte for 30 years and my grandmother bought the first house on Tharp Dr in 1962. We in Laporte, like our small town, quiet neighborhoods and manageable traffic. I believe this project will destroy the environment with harmful dust fall out, create massive noise pollution, threaten our water table and bring in a lot of heavy, noisy traffic. I work late nights and with trucks and machinery running nonstop a quarter mile from my house will mean I won't be able to sleep. As a nurse, I have to be alert and functional all night. If I to not, I could easily make mistakes, putting my patients in danger.

I strongly oppose the propsed Loveland Ready Mix pit and plant in Laporte. Laporte is one of last remaining rural residential areas near Fort Collins. I have lived here 15 years and would hate to see it become industrialized by another gravel pit. Noise, dust, light pollution, and unsightly land use are of major concerns. Please deny this proposed pit.

This is typical of our region to not consider the small town of LaPorte as important. This will affect every resident that lives in the LaPorte area. All you have to do is look at the result of the operation on County Road 54G between Shields and Overland Trail, and that tells it all. The residents of this area say NO! Have lived in LaPorte since 1990.

The proposed gravel operation should be denied. Placing such an operation in the center of a small community where it crosses 287 will adversely affect the residents, their property values, and the peace of the people. The noise produced by the existing operation on Taft can already be heard in the distance. What will LRM and affiliated parties do to mitigate the loss of property values and the impact to the land? How will LRM prevent business loss or the loss of bikers who ride 287 into the mountains? How about the additional traffic? How will LRM and affiliated parties mitigate the potential driving hazard by the trucks and machinery going in and out of the area? The roads are already tight. LaPorte is a very peaceful community. Leave it that way!

Residential areas and concrete pits don't mix! If allowed, the community of Laporte and nearby residential areas will suffer. Laporte is poised for positive future growth but this plan could put an end to all that. As a Laporte resident, I find this proposal so disturbing - please take a look at the community and natural beauty of the area, another concrete pit doesn't fit! Commissioners, please help us protect our future and DENY this proposal!

This is a terrible idea for the people of Laporte and rural North Fort Collins. Not only will it devalue homes and properties in the area but it most certainly devalues the quality of life for the aforementioned folks. The neighbors and community this immediately affects do and should have a voice and DO NOT want the beautiful wetlands surrounding their homes drained for short-term profits. I say NO, NO and NO!

Please deny heavy industry from hauling away LaPorte. The bike trail from Overland to Shields is surrounded by pits. Taft Hill road from the bike trail to 54G is all pits. The large batch plant on Taft Hill sends heavy pollutants all over Fort Collins and LaPorte isn't that enough Heavy Industry for one area. Not to mention Holcium. This is not against Loveland Ready Mix but against any mining in the area between 54G and Hwy 287, it is not an appropriate use of this land in our neighborhood. It will literally swallow our community and this will be a great loss for us residents and all the people from Fort Collins that come here to enjoy.

Not appropriate to put a mining pit this close a residential area. The pit is too close to too many neighbors. Noise from the mining operation is inappropriate this close to peoples homes.
