We, the undersigned, as families andresidents of the City of Brockton
would like to express our desire thatthe Department of Elementary and Secondary Educatioin (DESE)NOT grant a charter to
the New Heights Charter School.
The people of Brockton are extremely proud of the great
strides our public schools have made in recent years. We are also proud of the
fact that children and families in Brockton already have a plethora of choices
available to them that suits nearly every need a child may have. As an urban
school district Brockton Schools have had virtually unprecedented success and
satisfaction with our system. Also as an urban district we cater to a large
amount of special ed students and english language learners. Students who
require more resources and generally do not help increase the district’s test
scores. Despite this, our system achieves many great things that we would be in
danger of losing if a large portion of the budget were to be diverted to an un-needed
charter school.
We ask that you please consider the record of choices and
achievement in Brockton, as well as the wishes and desired of the families and
residents here and DENY a charter to New Heights Charter School.
Plenty of choice already here and outstanding teachers that challenge. My own children are proof!
